Company CEO Viktor Spiriev presented the most important investment plans for 2024 to regional stakeholders

Viktor Spiriev took part in the main panel of the “Northwestern Bulgaria – The Perspective” event, organized by BGlobal Magazine. The forum was attended by members of the Parliament, mayors of municipalities, representatives of state institutions and local business. In the focus of the discussions were the challenges for the development of Northwestern Bulgaria and the key role of large businesses in the economical process. This year Monbat celebrates 65 years from the start of operations in the northwestern town Montana.
Mr. Spiriev presented the most important economic data of Monbat Group, announced in the 2023 Annual Report. The data reveal that substantial share of all group activities is concentrated in Montana. 65% of the turnover – 248M of 383M BGN – originates from the main lead-acid manufacturing facility, recycling of used batteries and the respective logistic operations in Montana. Nearly the same share of 64% – 225M of 353M BGM total consolidated revenue – is due to the export production of the companies in Montana, part of Monbat Group. The added value, related to the activity in Montana is 57% – 22,5M of 39,5M BGN – from the main recycling and manufacturing operations.
“Despite the fact that we are operating in a business related to one of the earliest adopted electrochemical technologies, we are constantly improving it via innovations. We have a solid base available and step toward new opportunities – new types of batteries, new raw material cycles, lower carbon footprint”, mentioned Viktor Spiriev. In 2024, on the Montana manufacturing facility new operations are expected to be deployed – an assembly line for AGM SLI batteries, a line for used batteries’ separator washing, as well as launch of terminal insert manufacturing line. The new facilities will create 35 new jobs.
