From November 9th, 2023, the informational and analytical document “How to Understand and Develop the Energy Storage Systems” is freely available at the corporate website of Monbat AD. In the popular “White paper” format, the company presents the perspectives for the development and the mass deployment of energy storage systems (ESS) in an earnest, yet comprehensive to the general public, manner. The emphasize is on the battery energy storage systems (BESS) and the main opportunities for applying these in different scopes of energy consumption – from households to large industrial enterprises.
BESS are increasingly being used in integration with renewables, thus reducing grid electricity consumption and associated costs, especially during peak demand hours. Additionally, battery-based systems are offering a set of other advantages as voltage stabilization, power supply provision in case of power outages and other contingencies, reserved power on demand (e.g., for fast charging of electric vehicles), etc. The white paper emphasizes the presentation of different battery technologies (“chemistries”) applied in BESS with analysis of their strengths and weaknesses, and their suitability for the respective electricity consumption scope. The main purpose of the paper is to serve as a basic guide for different stakeholder groups, planning to install renewables for self-consumption or electricity trading.
Monbat is among the largest manufacturers of lead-acid and lead-carbon industrial batteries in Europe, as well as owner of EAS Batteries – development company, specialized in state-of-the-art lithium-ion modules (LFP), based in Nordhausen, Germany. Earlier in 2023, Monbat has already announced plans to commercialize of off- and on-grid BESS (incl. modular systems), equipped with lead-carbon and lithium-ion batteries for household and industrial application, with capacities ranging from 5 kW to 500 kW.
“In Monbat, we believe that it is necessary to disseminate information, conduct outreach and promote BESS application proactively and accessibly. This White paper is an attempt at an impartial and in-depth view of the scope of issues and opportunities opening up to all renewables’ operators, incl. small business and households, which, according to our forecasts, will increasingly and ever more widely be making use of the benefits and opportunities to generate and store energy autonomously and, if afforded by the grid and legislation – also sell such energy to the distribution grid.”, Monbat CEO Viktor Spiriev stated in regard with the published White paper.
