The lead acid battery business focuses on the production of lead-acid automotive and stationary batteries and their servicing. The products in this segment can be divided into the following main groups:

  • starter batteries
  • stationary batteries
  • deep cycle batteries
  • special batteries
  • locomotives batteries
  • leisure batteries

RECYCLING

RECYCLING contacts

The division operates in recycling and trading activities of

  • lead acid scrap batteries
  • lead alloys
  • polyethylene and polypropylene materials

Recycling facilities are located in Bulgaria as well as in Italy, Romania and Serbia.

LITHIUM ION SOLUTIONS

explore our LITHIUM ION SOLUTIONS

The lithium-Ion business segment operates under the EAS brand and provides cells and systems based on safe and proven LFP chemistry. The adopted cylindrical cells technology and the modular-based packing approach of the battery and systems allows EAS to maintain its attractive product range of High Power (HP) batteries for selected industries such as:

  • public transport
  • commercial fleet
  • construction machines
  • marine
  • harbour
  • and airport operations

Monbat started testing of a battery energy storage system (BESS) for industrial purposes

Corporate

The program of Monbat AD for commercialization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) has entered a new stage of testing BESS prototypes for industrial purposes. Simultaneously, the preparation to introduce to the market BESS for households, micro- and small businesses has reached its final phase.

Tests of several types three-phase systems, engineered for deployment in different industries have been held in a laboratory for power electronics. The equipment can be installed either independently or as a complex systems supporting RES generating infrastructure. Industrial BESS are based on modular architecture (each module reaching up to 20 kW), whereas batteries and active equipment are reliably installed in 20-feet container and are operated by a monitoring system for the batteries and the active equipment. Modular active equipment could be designed in a broad power range – from 20 kW to 500 kW. The topology is a bidirectional power converter, whereas the basic version the output to consumers can reach 400 VAC.

Similar to the systems for household users, in case of connecting additional consumers, models can be added in parallel to reach the necessary parameters. Leading approach in system design is to achieve optimal balance between key operational parameters – acquisition cost and operating costs, fire safety, availability of high-level support for the system modules.

Being one of the biggest manufacturers of industrial lead batteries, Monbat will offer systems, equipped with the best-selling 12HVR190C battery strings. Simultaneously, solutions equipped with li-ion modules will be part of the range too, as these demonstrate stable parameters in industrial BESS. True to the established product-as-a-know-how business model, Monbat will delegate a special project team for the design of each industrial BESS and take responsibility for the commissioning itself.

In recent months, we have succeeded in the intensive development of conceptual storage systems oriented towards both industry and households, for which existing and potential clients already have expressed interest. I believe that one of the key advantages of industrial energy storage systems will be the proven reliability of the batteries produced by Monbat and the proximity to the European markets. Our industrial systems will be suitable for deployment in a broad range of sectors, in which the opportunity for consuming self-generated electricity and avoiding peak-prices on the market are key element of the desirable financial results for any business, summarized the director of the “Industrial batteries” division at Monbat AD Bozhidar Nekeziev.
