Monbat AD is Official Partner and Energy Storage System Supplier of the Field Laboratory ‘Integrated Energy Systems’

Corporate

The Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems “Acad. Evgeni Budevski” – BAS, officially opens the laboratory on 10th May 2024

Monbat is partnering with Competence Center HITMOBIL in the creation of a field laboratory for testing of new generation energy systems. The venue opens with official ceremony tomorrow, 10th May 2024 at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences location, 11, Iskarsko Shosse Blvd. The project presents systems for integration of energy sources for the first time in Bulgaria, and some of these – for the first time in the world.

World premiere will be celebrated for a mobile installation for hydrogen refueling. For the first time in Bulgaria and the region a functioning hydrogen refueling station for vehicles with fuel-cell will be installed and operated. The project is financed by the Operative Programme ‘Science Education for Sustainable Growth’ of the EU.

Monbat is the only corporate partner in the project, participating with a product, fully developed and realized in Bulgaria and with Bulgarian know-how – battery energy storage system (BESS) featuring high-cycling lead-carbon industrial batteries with 145 kWh capacity and bidirectional convertor. The system is applicable in practice for industrial manufacturers and RES-producers.

‘This is a scientific complex, which will create very good opportunities for theoretical and practical research in the field of new energy technologies but most over – of their optimal integration. The partnership between IEES-BAS and Monbat has a long history and we are particularly happy that the company aligns the research projects with the commercial ones’, stated Cor. Mem. Evelina Slavcheva, director of Competence Center HITMOBIL. ‘This project is of high importance for us, as it demonstrates the capabilities of our BESS in adequate competition with alternative systems and because we are establishing an excellent ‘demo-center’ for the real advantages, accessible for our clients, too. Practically, the laboratory operates a product, that is available for the market’, said Bozhidar Nekeziev, Director of ‘Industrial Batteries and Reserved Power Division’ in Monbat.
